How to Read this Blog

When I started this blog, I could not figure out, within the given parameters, how to get it to read logically. So it ended up with the freshest post on the top of the page with the top of the post being the beginning of the post. When you get to the end of the post, you will find the beginning of the previous post. A bit awkward, but ...it is what it is. (right David?)

Also, feel free to leave comments. I engaged the annoying "real person verification thingy" because some dork put an add to his product on my blog and disguised it as a comment. He probably works on wall street.

Locate and Cut Hole For Shifter

Before I could mount the cab I needed to relocate the hole for the shifter. Although the cab came off a truck with a stick, the shifter is in a completely different spot. To start off, I used the front cab mount brackets on the frame and the front cab mount holes in the frame as points of reference. Using a plumb bob and string, I marked the center line between the the cab mounts on the piece of tape on top of the tranny.
Then, measuring from the cab mounts I marked the centerline between the frame rails. The center of the shifter is 4 inches behind this intersection point.
Duplicating the process I came up with the intersection point on the tape. Measuring 4 inches straight back, I came up with this point to bore my hole.
My biggest hole saw is 4 inches. I can always trim it larger if needed. In fact I probably will eventually so I can remove the shifter without pulling the cab or tranny.
